MLLDV Lawsuit + Weekly Update

Hello Guys,

This was actually quite a fantastic week for myself and Lucas Entertainment. Let me start with some big news about the lawsuit against "Michael Lucas' La Dolce Vita."

1) As you all know, the company that owns the rights to Federico Fellini's film "La Dolce Vita" brought a lawsuit against me earlier this year. Some of you were very happy to report that Lucas Entertainment was "slapped" with a lawsuit. Some particularly clever people, like Chris Ward, even predicted that this lawsuit would be the end of me and my company. What many failed to recognize was that this was nothing more than a homophobic, porn-hating move from the plaintiff. For God's sake, how could anyone possible confuse the two films with each other? And how could my movie (image at left) tarnish the reputation of an old, black-and-white movie from the '60s that has a name most Americans can't even pronounce correctly?

About a month ago, the plaintiff filed a motion in court to place an injunction on sales and distribution of "Michael Lucas' La Dolce Vita." Last Friday my lawyer and their three lawyers (one of whom was named by IP Law & Business as one of the best lawyers in America in 2005, 2006, and 2007) met in court to present arguments to the judge. The judge denied the injunction, so, yes, we will continue distributing, selling, and promoting the film. You can read more in the Wall Street Journal Law Blog here and also see the court transcript, which is a public record here.

2) All that court drama took place on Friday, and on Saturday I was on my way to a big photo shoot in Italy. There is something about Italy that makes taking photos a particularly pleasant experience. You can preview the results on my blog bio page or by clicking on the sample pic on the right. Feel free to use those images on your blogs and websites. Please use these pictures from here on with any stories about me, as they are the most recent ones taken, and disregard using those old photos of mine. I don't want to be accused of being the kind of guy who uses 10-year-old pictures of himself in the press. :-)

3) "Encounters 5: Burning Desire" (image at left) is available now for direct purchase and in the stores next week. Fleshbot previewed the scene with Brian Bodine and Vin Nolan, while my blog will continue previewing the scenes with the rest of the cast, including Jimmy, Jason Ridge, and Jonathan Vargas.

4) We're looking for extras for our sex comedy "The Intern." Will you be in New York from May 15th-21st? Email casting@lucasentertainment.com with your photo and availability.

5) My new column in the New York Blade, "How Can Gays Be Anti-Israel?" is about a topic that is very close to my heart—anti-Semitism and anti-Israeli prejudice in the gay community. I haven't written about anti-Semitism in the adult film industry only because I think it already has a bad reputation and I don't want to make it worse (By the way, don't you love this new wave of films sexualizing Jew- and Israel-hating Muslims? Let's not even go there right now...).

6) My introductory column in HX is out today as well (in print only) and it will be ongoing just like in the Blade. This week it is just an introduction, but stay tuned for next week's column which is all about my meeting with Buck Angel.

7) SexTV from Canada spent a day with me in my office, with my wonderful employees, at home with my boyfriend, at play with my dog and guinea pig, etc. The clip, which is here, came out really well.

8) Nakedsword also did a segment on me and my company that I think is hilarious. You can watch it here.

Have a great weekend!

Michael

The pictures are great. You just get hotter and hotter. I like to think that I am your biggest fan (or at least biggest fan in Canada). Keep up the great work.

Do you believe it is possible to be anti-Israel without being anti-Semitic?

For starters...congrats on the denied injunction...the lawsuit is full of crap, so hopefully all will work out for you in the end. MLLDV was an EXCELLENT movie by the way.

Secondly, the new pics are great!

Michael,

You look great. Just gets better with age. One thing I rarely hear people saying is what great sense of style you have. America's Next Top-Top Model. Ha!
