I need your help
In the past few months I have run into about four acquaintances who have been brutally beaten recently in Chelsea, either during a mugging or for being gay. Interestingly, all of those attacks have occurred on the east side of 8th Avenue, around 22nd street, but I've also heard of other similar attacks in Chelsea and in Hell's Kitchen.
I am going to be writing a story about this in the New York Blade and interviewing people for it, including members of the New York Police Department, which has been almost completely unresponsive despite the fact that all four of the people I spoke to had filed reports.
If you or anyone you know has experienced such an attack please contact me directly at michael@lucasentertainment.com
I want you help to raise awareness of this issue, as I believe it is very important for the safety of the gay community.

hi I read the above blog and was intrigued. Now I am not gay nor am I homophobic but in reading this blog i can't help but think it sounded a little bit selfish. Please dont be offended but as I see it all violence is wrong, be it against an ethnicity or sexual orientaion. I understand you said "...during a mugging or for being gay" but why must attention be drawn to a certain group instead of ALL vioence agaisnt ALL mankind? It seems everytime that i turn the television there is someone on saying that their minority or their certain group of friends are being attacked. I am white and I am straight( i dont know how i found your site) but I dont feel that i am given any favoritism b/c of it. In life there are many hardships, but it seems now a days we are raised that life is perfect and that if your life is not then you should sue. Dont mean to come off as preachy just wanted to give an opinion.
