A new feature for this blog...

As you may know, I live a very busy and exciting life. Sometimes it's so overwhelming that I don't have time to talk to my friends until the weekend. So I was thinking of how I could update everyone I know about how I'm doing without having to go through all those ubiquitous "How was your day?" conversations which I never have time for anymore. My solution is to refer everyone to my blog, which I will try to update daily in the following format. Let's start with yesterday, May 8th:

7:00 AM -- Woke up, took a shower, had breakfast with my boyfriend Richard, read the New York Times and the Tribune.
8:00 AM -- Went to the gym and worked out with my trainer Ben for an hour.
9:30 AM -- Got into the office, answered emails.
12:00 PM -- Staff meeting.
12:45 PM -- Gave an interview to a German magazine called EreXXXion.
1:30 PM -- Business lunch with a magazine editor.
3:00 PM -- Returned to office and answered more emails.
4:00 PM -- Reviewed rough cut of our next big release, "Welcome to Paradise," which we filmed in Florida a couple of months ago (it's really hot).
5:00 PM -- Came across a link to Queerty.com that someone sent me. Hadn't read anything so hateful towards me in a long time. I was surprised how it really put me down. It made me feel like I didn't want to continue working at this point, so I left for home early.
5:30 PM -- While walking home I was thinking to myself that, Yes, perhaps I am really vain. But I kept in mind the nature of the business I am in. Do I really look as ugly as this blog portrays me? I am 35... is this just a pre-midlife crisis? I really shouldn't read hateful blogs. On the other hand, the guy who writes that thing is probably making $7 an hour, has never traveled anywhere beyond New Jersey, and is definitely not on my comp list. Maybe I am just getting more sensitive with age. Maybe...
6:00 PM -- Cardio for an hour at the gym, to try to beat it all out of my system.
7:00 PM -- Got home and went out to dinner with my boyfriend and another couple who we've known for a while.
10:30 PM -- Got home and checked my inbox, where I had an email from Harvey Fierstein. I haven't heard from him in at least two months. He said he loved how my column is going in the New York Blade, so I emailed him back. His words made me feel much better. Life isn't so awful after all... There are still people who like me. :-)
11:00 PM -- Fell asleep.

Michael

Ignore the negative comments. The important people in your life think you are great: your family, friends and fans.

Dear Michael,

Succesful people always have to deal with jealousy and petty attitudes.
You are great and you went far beyond the boundaries of your industry to try and actually make a change. Not only first rate porn but also freedom of expression and a voice for many who won't speak themselves.
You are welcome to have a glimpse at my blog, maybe leave a msg or how to contact you directly. I hope to meet you in person at some point in NYC.

Hiya guys,
just proofread what i wrote now, seems i type faster than i think, so if u wish to post my opinion plz post this one:

Hi Michael,

I've been a fan and reader for sometime now...this day to day journal thing is very cool. About the comments; I went to the website G....(never even heard about it before and i love blogs, so no need to advertise it more), read what they had to say and read the comments after. My opinion: They are a bunch of self-hating, unsatisfied, wannabe, mediocre, ignorant, losers.

You have brought up to par your genre of film...finally someone tried. Your films are beautiful, have a consistent theme and a plot that makes sense.

For me it is more than enough to know of your personal story and struggle then how you have now become a Czar in this industry.... for me to tell you that you have nothing to feel down about. You have given soo much, not only for the industry, but for immigrants with that "American Dream." An example of hope and success.

And last, as a person who majored in Photography and Adv., personaly I think those new shots, are by far the best I've seen you.

Big cheers to you from Honduras,
Salvador

You're 35?! Damn, you look great! I'm stealing some pics for my blog. Thanks, baby.

I tend to find these gay opinion columns, like Queerty and Perez Hilton, to be written by bored, hateful, self-loathing, bitchy queens who can't do anything with their lives worth a damn, so they pursue a career in bashing others. Responding to or letting them affect you is pointless. The most important thing is you know who you are and you're happy with that person. What other people say is just circumstantial. Besides, with people like that, given enough rope, they tend to hang themselves.

Give me a break. I think you have enough pictures of yourself up that you couldn't have that low of a self-esteem. I'm sure you will recover.

I think the name of the writer at Queerty is Anpew Blowshitsky. Anyway, I say, challenge Mr. Blowshitsky to a dick photo contest. Put a pic of your erect penis next to one of his, and let your blog readers decide who looks more appealing. You have to do it that way because if you challenged him on the basis of his wits, that would simply be too unfair to him.

I don't live in New Jersey. I have travelled extensively. I make much more than $7 an hour. I've been on numerous comp lists in my life so far.

Don't you think that responding to people who put you down only adds more fule to the fire?

Have you considered that by insulting peopel who insult you you are the same?

self-doubt, questioning of one's self-esteem, melancholia, all can be useful in moderation.

work with it michael, it helps you grow.

remember that in chinese, the sign for crisis is the same as for opportunity.
