Peep and Sweep
I was just catching up on some newspapers and this article caught my attention:
Peep and Sweep Furor in the NY Post.
This was about the lawsuit of the workers against Equinox gyms in NY. Although I personally never go to the gym saunas as I have a perfectly good shower in my apartment and I'm just not interested in engaging in sexual activities at the gym, this action taken by the the gym's employees strikes me as extremely homophobic and shady.
NYC a city with a large gay population, and when gay men are naked together, there really is no way to avoid a few sexual encounters from occurring. Trust me, if there were heterosexual men who found themselves in a sauna with some willing females, it would turn into one big orgy.
The most ridiculous part of the lawsuit is the fact that they claim to be concerned with "potential health issues." While I understand that the cleaning staff might not have the highest of IQs, their lawyers probably had to explain to them that society has known since the 80s that you can't contract HIV or any other virus by picking up a towel, cumstained or not. Sure, maybe it's icky, but hazardous to their health? That's just a blatently homophobic paranoia.

What I wonder about is The Post referring to Equinox as a "swanky" club.
I always thought is was for people who couldn't afford the real physical culture centers in the city.
I can't comment on the locker room and sauna highschool bullshit because to me unless you can really spread legs, open holes, scream filthy dirty shit as loud as you want, spank, spit, kiss every opening known to man and in general carry on like a hyped up pig, it ain't makin' love at all!

Well I am a gay man and even I would not want to clean up after gay guys in an orgy with cumstained towels and so forth, but I don't think I'd contract HIV. No, I would just wear disposable rubber gloves.

Here in Boston, before they opened a new branch in the (somewhat) gay South End recently, the Boston Sports Club put a posting on the Boston Craig's List under Male-For-Male (or whatever that category is) saying that anyone caught having sex in the sauna or any other part of the club would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, or some such nonsense. Years ago, the Metropolitan Health Club shut down their whirlpool, then the steam room, then the sauna, for the same reasons (altho they didn't say they closed them because of sex and came up with some other stupid reason). Not that it stopped anyone who really wanted to get it on....
