Michael's Mailbox: You Gave Liberals A Bad Name

In response to:

"As you lived in the Soviet Union in 1980, the world pondered the same situation as the Soviet Union was hosting the winter olympics. Since you were behind the Iron Curtain and was not aware of every position in the world, let me remind you. (you can finish reading this BS in the comments about my last blog)"

Listen Luke, I usually don't dedicate my answers to dudes like you. Yet, you are a real idiot. I am not even sorry to be that frank. As for you not wanting to argue with me about Palestinian notables, there's a simple reason for that. You don't know any. But you surely are foolish enough to give an immigrant Russian Jew a lesson about the olympic games of 1980. I remember those games very well. Was I aware of the international boycott? You bet. My whole family and I, along with the families of millions of others were glued to the Voice of America, the only source that brought us true information, and hope. You can't even imagine the joy and pride we had when we realized that the world community did not forget us, and sent us a signal that the free world was with us. You say that sports should be left out of world politics. But sometimes this is the only option, and it works better than bombs and bloodshed.

I will never forget the Soviet officials desperately trying to keep a straight face and smile while Western countries dropped out of the game. The whole population of the USSR got the message. It could not be clearer. The world was disgusted by Soviet politics. Just a few years later, the borders were opened, and the first dissidents could leave the Soviet nation.

And let me tell you something about a different year of Olympic games that happened about 40 years earlier in Germany. Neither the United States nor others boycotted the Nazi olympic games, when Americans and Nazis performed on one field under big, bright swastikas, as filmed by the famous Nazi propaganda filmmaker, Leni Riefenstahl. Just a few years after that, German troops marched to Czechoslovakia, then Russia, and occupied nearly the whole of Europe and Africa and the second world war began. You should be embarrassed not to draw such an obvious parallel.

You are the kind of liberal who gave liberals a bad name.

Sincerely,
Michael Lucas

About the Olympic Games in 1936, the peruvian delegation left Germany and protested because the discrimination against its soccer team presenting its proposal to other countries without echo. And the peruvian president at this time was pro Nazi Germany (But I'm proud that many people of my country didn't follow his orders or instructions).

Michael

You are so right. No one outside of the then Soviet Union could ever truly know or understand.
I have written before and am proud to say I am a Jew of Russian & British descent. I only heard the stories from my grandparents of the plight that all Europeans had to live through in the midst of terror during WWII and Communism. We in the United States live through this now and hopefully the rest of the world will understand that there are misdirected people trying to kill all of us....the "infidels." Today, this fight is accused of being driven by business interests, political interests and territorial interests..in a time that will soon be here, we will all realise that this is a fight for all interests. The extremists will never stop...nor shall we. Wake up World.

We do not need another USSR that Mr. Lucas lived in again. Long live Israel. Long live the USA. Long Live the World.

G_d Bless
