Michael's Mailbox: Marching on ...

Dear readers,

This is the end of the month and I thought it would be appropriate to do something I do rarely. Not because I ignore people on my blog- but just because I get extremely busy running Lucas Entertainment. I always appreciate the comments, bad or good. But don't piss me off too badly, or I will be forced to fuck this puppy.

To start, The Outing blog got the strongest reaction recently. Sorry, I wasn't convinced by those who disagree with me. I know all about how important privacy is. But some people just don't get my simple point. Once someone becomes a celebrity, it is understood that he becomes a public figure. With fame and money comes a mix of pleasant and unpleasant attention. You are going to be under a media microscope and everyone understands this. If you want to have your "private life" stay private, stick to something like computer work or wait some fucking tables in North Carolina. But don't crawl towards the cameras, because it works both ways.

My second point is that at a time when homophobia is so overwhelming in this cruel world and people are being killed just for their sexual orientation, I really couldn't care about someone being a little more marketable because their fanbase is hugely homophobic. I really don't think that anyone should have concern for these people making a few less millions. Try to worry more about Matthew Shepard, or those who are pursecuted for being different who are not in the public eye, and whose problems are overlooked. (For example, I heard that Shiite Muslims have been publicly executing gays in the streets of Iraq. My applause to Mr. Bush for all the great "democracy" he has established with the new Iraqi Shiite government.)

Hillary Clinton is another controversial subject. I guess I didn't make one point clear. I was not saying "do not vote for Hillary", but instead- do not give money to a candidate that does not fully support your position. Give her your vote, but don't give her your cash. Yes I will give my vote to Hillary over Condoleeza Rice, no question. But I am not going to unconditionally financially support a candidate who periodically betrays me and does not stand up for the positions which are vitally important to me. As I said, I'd rather give that money to other charity organizations like LAMBDA legal. Gay people are often too delicate and too quick to create an icon. Why don't you learn from the powerful Jewish lobby of the US? Just like gays, as a minority, Jews are very politically active and have money. Can you imagine one presidential hopeful who will not clearly articulate his unconditional support for the state of Israel? He would not get a penny from them. Take it from the jews. Otherwise our money will always be taken for granted. Make those candidates you worship work for your money. Otherwise they will always betray you.

That reminds me of President Clinton's time. It was Clinton who signed this disgusting Defense of Marriage Act. (The one Hillary is now protecting) Bill also signed the embarrassing "Don't Ask Don't Tell" for the demands of bigots. What did we do? Absolutely nothing! Why? Because he is "our" president. How dare we. He is an icon. There was not even a conversation about gay marriage during Clinton's time. Ironically we got much further under Bush in the last 6 years than under Clinton in 8 years. It clearly shows that we make greater progress when we are alert, united, and going full force, fighting for our goals.

As for my performance in Florida, I think I need to clarify that I am not apologizing to anyone who does not understand my jokes. The point which I made to myself is that once you are in a room where people aren't on your same wavelength, then it's better to stick to the original programming. And in that case it was just swinging my dick around. I am not interested in offending those who paid money to see some cock. But I am not changing myself into a different person just because people don't get me. I am sure that my GAYVN speech is a good example of that.

That brings me to the last hot topic of the month: the awards show. Whenever I get on stage to speak, then I will always say whatever I want. I really don't think there were any horrible consequences from my words aside from bringing attention to the show. If someone really wants to be offended and wants to take what I say literally, that's ok. I am not bothered. Let them think I am a bitch.

Love,

Michael

Just Look What We Found In Barcelona ...

Auditions 7: Barcelona is out, and let me tell you- it is a great one.

We shot Auditions 7 while we were in Spain filming Barcelona Nights. So many incredible guys who were so eager to film for us that we decided to produce Barcelona Auditions. With Wilfried, Edu, Manu and Milan already with us, I knew I had many reliable performers to give some new guys a hot scene. We already had so many sexy guys in Barcelona, and didn't want to turn any away, so we made room for them in Barcelona Auditions.

We ended up with 2 threeways and 2 one on one. What makes any scene especially hot is when real life boyfriends perform on camera. The kind of intensity that you find between real life couples is amazing. So you end up with two guys who are into each other, and know exactly what they want. Boyfriends are often more versitile on camera as well. They will often allow their partner to try more things because there is greater comfort and trust. The two real life couples in Auditions 7 are Manu and Edu, and Milan and Leo. Manu and Edu brought their fuckbuddy, Fran, who is this gorgeous, beautiful, twinkish guy and basically ripped him apart. Anyone who remembers Manu and Edu's award winning scene in Auditions 4 knows the fireworks that these guys bring on camera! (You can see their Auditions 4 scene here.)

EduBarcA.jpg
Edu Boxer

In another scene, Lukas and Julio, these two great Brazlian guys, couldnt speak a word of English. So naturally, I made all sorts of nasty jokes without worrying about them understanding ;) The interview is really gross and dirty, yeah ... I was having fun with them. Lukas is a smooth, muscular bottom who is more than eager to suck sexy, hairy Julio. But the scene wasn't turning out as hot as I wanted. So I jumped in there and fucked the hell out of them both. It's times like these when I know I've got to get in front of the camera. I have to be sure these guys cum and everyone watching too!

WilfBarc.jpg
Wilfried Knight

Then there's this scene with unfuckingbelievably hot Wilfried Knight, sexstud Milan, and English newcomer, Ross. It was crazy. We filmed it all in 30 minutes and we didn't even have to edit it. These 3 guys were an amazing match. Each of them got fucked in the scene. Ross was so sweet. Not only did he bring his toned body and bright blue eyes to the set. He also brought a huge white dildo he found in a Barcelona store. That thing cost about 100 dollars, so I made sure we got our money worth and it was used by everyone! According to Ross, his real life boyfriend has a dick that rivals Chad Hunt, so he's really used to big cocks. He had no problem taking Milan, and he really enjoyed the big dildo. Ross can do anything with his ass! I guess that's what happens when you get a huge cock in your ass every night for two years, or so he told us.

RossBarc.jpg
Ross Stevens

Milan was having sex in the last scene with his real boyfriend, Leo. You can imagine they are in a very open relationship, but this was a really passionate scene where guys flip flopped for each other. Both have giant dicks and a great ass and I didn't even have to direct. Just a half an hour of a great scene. Like I said before, it just had the fireworks you can only find in these boyfriend scenes.

Anyhow- we did all that work the the tight quarters of Barcelona. I am so happy with how it all turned out. I always like how raw the Auditions movies are because it's all about the sex. And listen, if you buy it, don't be stupid: get more for your money and get the Director's Cut online from us at www.lucasentertainment.com. We sell it for only 34.95. There's extra watersports scenes and more- so you actually pay less for more. How can you not love that! It's like free watersports ... you sure as hell won't find a deal like that at any Walmart in the country. Unfortunately.

-----

Finally, check out this hilarious video of Liza Minelli when she was on CNN. Click here. Now don't get me wrong- I love her. One of my favorite movies is Cabaret. But she's just too much. My favorite parts of this clip are when she talks about giving money to the "retarded kids" and then laughs at that guy who says he majors in musical theater. She's so damn crazy! I love it.

Hillary and Homophobia

It is high time for those in the gay community who treat Hillary Clinton like a superstar icon on a par with Madonna and the Statue of Liberty to stop doing so.

Hillary Clinton has not taken a strong enough stand in favor of legal equality for GLBT people and therefore does not deserve any economic or campaign support from us.

No less a figure than Alan van Capelle, Executive Director of the Empire State Pride Agenda, recently called Mrs. Clinton a “complete disappointment.” He urged gays to not contribute to her campaign chest.

I fully support his plea. Would any self-respecting African-American donate to the campaign chest of a politician who said she only partially supported rights for black citizens? So why should a self-respecting gay person donate to Mrs. Clinton?

I know why they do, actually, and it makes me want to puke. There are wealthy gay people who donate to the Clintons, despite the Clintons’ lack of support for our community, because they know that donating will get them glamorous photo ops and gala invitations. I’m not saying that such gay people are base scum, but I do think they should think more about the entire gay community, as well as about Matthew Shepard, and less about glamorous photo ops for themselves.

There are plenty of gay groups doing meaningful work in favor of our rights. Giving to them may not ever get one an invitation to the White House, but in the long run will certainly do more towards advancing the position of the entire gay community.

An irrational prejudice against homosexuality is at the root of our unequal legal standing in this society. Leaders should not be waiting to see if the public is ready to accept legal equality for gays; they should be telling the public that the irrational prejudice against us is wrong.

Given that Mrs. Clinton does not speak to the public that way, gay people, instead of contributing to her campaigns, should take economic actions that will nudge her towards doing so. How? By, for example, sponsoring public service announcements exposing the wrongfulness of anti-gay hatred. Then, when Mrs. Clinton takes her frequent public opinion polls, she will find that the general public mood is increasingly in favor of full legal equality for gays, and she will come closer to supporting such full legal equality.

Notoriously, the founding fathers of the United States decided that a slave was equivalent to 3/5ths of a human being. It was as wrong to regard a person of African extraction that way in the 1700s as it is to treat today’s gays as if they only equaled 3/5ths of a human being.

Are we going to passively sit by and allow ourselves to be treated like 3/5ths of a human being? Worse yet, are we going to NOT protest when members of our community give money to politicians who treat us like 3/5ths of a human being?

I’ve heard arguments advanced by gays that politics is a matter of pragmatism and that we should accept politicians like Mrs. Clinton pandering to bigots as a necessary evil. I have a one word rebuttal: Bullshit!

If you are against insisting that politicians fully back our legal equality before we’ll lend them our support, then you are an accomplice to your own repression and I urge you to consult a therapist.

I will also take this opportunity to mention that Eliot Spitzer gets a 70% approval rating in conservative upstate New York and he is 100% behind our having equal legal status. That fact gives the lie to the notion that we must accept catastrophic compromises on our issues in order for a candidate to receive broader public support. Mrs. Clinton, take notice!

Hello From Sunny Florida ...

Here are some pictures from my recent show/trip to West Palm Beach and Cupid's Cabaret.
They were charging 25 bucks for entry to the club, so I guess I am a hot ticket ...
I don't think anyone was disappointed when I announced right away that there will be no dancing or booty shaking, just a lot of dick swinging. If you want to see a real dance show, go see Nick Lachey, not Michael Lucas ... or Mark Dalton for that matter. Thankfully, no one left, so I guess nobody hired me for my brains or my ability to dance.

And I actually learned a few things interacting with the crowd.
Once on stage I said, "Guys, I am an aging porn star, so please dim those horrific lights." I thought I was making fun of myself, but soon after about 20 people complained to me asking me why I would insult the club in this way.
Later, when someone from the "press" asked how my show will be different from Dalton's show, I said, "Well, I will have talent." I could tell they didn't like that very much.

It was this moment that really drove the nail in the coffin: I live in my New York cacoon and should be very careful about joking around outside of this sphere. I've always enjoyed making snide remarks and sarcastic humor but this can easily be misinterpreted as something negative. I'm a little tired of being misinterpreted no matter where my intentions lie.

Anyhow, it really sucks when people don't understand my jokes. But I really adored everyone in Florida and I'd rather prevent misunderstandings from getting in the way of me and good people.
So I think sometimes I'll just play a silent movie actor and let my body to all the talking for me.

March Madness

Everybody should be aware that plans for a first-ever Gay Pride March in Moscow are being scuttled by bigots in my backward homeland, Russia.

The Moscow Pride Parade is scheduled for May 27, 2006. The 27th was chosen because it is the anniversary of the 1993 elimination of Soviet laws against gays. A gay festival and conference are also planned for the date.

Both governmental and religious bigots are in on the anti-gay action.

Yuri Lushkov, Mayor of Moscow declared that homosexuality is “an unnatural act” and he banned the parade. He said that any and all attempts to hold the planned gay pride events will be “resolutely quashed.”

Over in the Russian parliament, the Duma (yes, you can think of the mayor and the parliament as Dum and Duma), Ekaterina Lahova, chair of the committee on women, family, and youth issues demonstrated her idiocy by saying it is not “safe for the state to propagate homosexuality” and that the banning of a Gay Pride March was a “perfectly correct decision.”

Plenty more recent anti-gay quotes by bigoted Russian governmental officials can be found on the internet.

The chief rabbi of Russia, may a boiling samovar fall on his head and snag his yarmulke, said that if the Gay Pride March were to be held, it “would be a blow for morality.” He said that “sexual perversions” do not have a right to exist. Nobody came along to put a gag on his mouth, and so he continued by saying “I would like to assure you, that the parade of homosexuals is not less offensive to the feelings of believers than any caricatures in newspapers.”

As bad as that rabbi is, the Supreme Mufti of, get this, the Central Spiritual Directorate of the Muslims of Russia, one Talgat Tajuddin, is calling for violence against gay people if they try to participate in a Pride March.

“Protests of Muslims can be even sharper than those abroad against scandalous cartoons,” said the Mufti tufti. “If they go into the streets, they should be thrashed. All normal people will do it, both Muslims and the Orthodox. Sexual minorities have no rights, because they have crossed the line. Alternative sexuality is a crime against God.”

As if God needed this Mufti as a policeman. Here I’d like to make a point about religion in society. Religion is properly an individual’s private, metaphysical business. But faith is by definition the acceptance as true of something that can not be proven to be true. Therefore, religious standards have no legitimate place ever in the deciding of public policy matters. Public policy matters should rather be decided on the grounds of empirical observations combined with humane compassion.

Vicious anti-gay prejudice is one of the main reasons I left Russia in the first place. As precarious as gay rights may be in the United States, the situation here is infinitely better than there. Incongruously, though Western Europe has the world’s most civilized legislation regarding homosexuals, New York City is still the capital of gay culture.

And yet, I heard this news last week surrounding the annual St Patrick's Day parade in New York:
Referring to the Irish Lesbian and Gay Organization, Dunleavy said, "People have rights. If we let the ILGO in, is it the Irish Prostitute Association next?"

World: we have a problem.

Michael's Mailbox: GAYVN Awards 2006

Hey guys,

Thank you for your happy birthday wishes and your congratulations on my award wins. What can I say- I had a great time in LA and had a blast at the GAYVN show. Not just because I got all these awards. I did enjoy people booing, protesting, projectiles being thrown at me and all the hating.

Look, don't get me wrong, I love admiration and respect but only from people who I respect back. And there are a lot of people in the industry that I love and admire. But I really couldn't give a flying fuck about the people who boed and threw ice at me. These are not people whose opinions mean anything to me. They are just a bunch of jealous freaks. And you know, I enjoy bringing some excitement to the event. I mean come on, I provided entertainment. I gave people shit to talk about. They liked hating it.

Here is a quick breakdown for you because people seem to be making shit up: I went on stage five times. I kept my speeches short. For the Best DVD extras I thanked all the celebrities who were brave enough to appear in a porn flick (after all, their interviews spiced up the extras). When I accepted for Tony DiMarco, I just paid tribute to all that he has done for the company. When I accepted for Auditions 4, I had Heather read Manu and Edu's acceptance speech.

Finally I accepted for best picture. And every time my win was announced, it was dead silence in the audience. There was no applause or cheer. Just hate in the air. My crew was there to film the event for a documentary about Dangerous Liaisons and my life. So when I went to accept the award for the best picture, I thought it would be great to let these people express themselves. So I pushed their buttons just a bit by saying "Thank you to those who voted for me, and whoever didn't vote for me, fuck you." And that just did it. They threw stuff, they booed, and we got a great documentary peice in the end.

Many people were confused with my thank yous. Well, I thanked many people. I thanked my pilot, security, my butler, driver, chef, my closet manager, personal trainers, my gardener, my bodyguards, housekeepers, assistants, my lawyers, my stylist, makeup artist, managers, agents, etc.

I must tell you in all seriousness that it was all a joke. What's a boy to do to make these people understand that it's ok to laugh now?

Michael Lucas doesn't have a pilot ... yet.

Love,

Michael

Dangerous Liaisons takes home Best Picture at the 2006 GAYVN awards

My company and I would like to thank GAYVN for nominating us with 18 awards and honoring us with 5 wins, most importantly, Best Picture of the Year for Dangerous Liaisons.

Along with:
Best Supporting Actor: Kent Larson, DANGEROUS LIAISONS (Lucas Ent.)
Best Pro/Am Release: MICHAEL LUCAS' AUDITIONS 4 (Lucas Ent.)
Best DVD Extras/Special Edition: DANGEROUS LIAISONS (Lucas Ent.)
Best Screenplay: Tony DiMarco, DANGEROUS LIAISONS (Lucas Ent.)
Best Picture: TIE: DANGEROUS LIAISONS (Lucas Ent.)
We would also like to congratulate Gus Mattox of Dangerous Liaisons for winning Performer of the Year.

On another note, it strikes me as odd not to award mainstream talent, Boy George, for best music in Manhattan Heat. Such actions isolate us even more in this little island of pornography. It is not everyday that a mainstream talent gives music rights to a porn flick. Naturally, the industry wants to honor its own, but this is counter-productive. Garnering mainstream respect will only help to make our work cutting edge and progressive in the eyes of the entertainment industry as a whole. Having Boy George lose is not helping our case. I should hope that one day these efforts will be embraced by the adult community.

Even more surprising was the award for Best Marketing. Marketing is the category where success can be measured most objectively. It's very obvious when something is well marketed because everyone has heard of it. Come on guys, after calling me a publicity whore for the whole year, and constantly asking if Dangerous Liaisons "will live up to all the hype", at least acknowledge that hype! Love or hate the movie, you sure as hell heard of it.

Finally, I want to thank my co-winner Chi Chi LaRue for bravely shielding me from the ice thrown by Raging Stallion's table as I accepted the award for Best Picture. I was so grateful to Chi Chi for saving my life (or at least my Alessandro Dell'Acqua suit), we ended up re-kindling our friendship at her afterparty.

In short, I enjoyed the applause and boos alike, it was all a publicity whore could hope for.
------------

(Both my boyfriend and I will be celebrating our birthdays tonight in Hollywood Hills, and I am looking forward to sharing the evening with friends. Pictures and details when I return to New York on Monday.)

JACK AND ENNIS, EMPTY-HANDED

I don’t doubt that many of you are bitterly disappointed about “Brokeback Mountain” not winning the Oscar for Best Picture.

Artistic quality can’t be measured like bra sizes. Declaring one among many worthy works of art “The Best” seems a little suspect. Even if you could objectively determine that John Waters is a greater genius than Orson Wells, Mr. Waters didn’t make “Citizen Kane” and Mr. Wells didn’t make “Pink Flamingos.”

Personally, I don’t believe “Crash” to be as finely finished a movie as “Brokeback Mountain.” Sure, "Crash" has a lot of manic energy, it carefully deals with serious subjects, big Hollywood stars who do respectable acting jobs in it, but it seemed so utterly contrived and unconvincing.

What annoyed me about this latest Oscar night is the lack of serious commentary accorded to questions of gay rights. We saw Billy Crystal and Chris Rock in a “Brokeback Mountain” tent. We saw excerpts from past Westerns, put together for their wink-wink-nudge-nudge innuendo. We heard Jon Stewart refer to gay issues as “the elephant in the room.” We heard several other sophomoric jokey riffs on homosexuality.

However, in this year when so many prominent films featured gay principle characters, I felt something much more needed to be acknowledged aside from what Ang Lee said in his acceptance speech.

George Clooney gave Jon Stewart a mild rebuff when Jon remarked that Hollywood is out of touch with mainstream America. Mr. Clooney said: “We were the ones who talked about AIDS when it was just being whispered; we talked about civil rights when it wasn’t popular. I’m proud to be part of Hollywood, proud to be part of the community and proud to be out of touch.”

That was alright as far as it went, but AIDS is hardly an exclusively gay issue, and it's absurd that in a year when Hollywood made so much money from gay themes, nobody saw fit to urge viewers to help eliminate anti-gay hatred from the world.

Jesus knows I’m a showman myself and I understand that The Oscars can't be turned into a marathon of editorials delivered by dazzling celebs in haute couture. But was it really too much to expect for a little something meaningful in these hours of boring nonsense? We've come a long way, baby, and the nominations speak to that. But hey, please quit the freakin cowboy jokes and say something real ok, Hollywood?!

Thank you, James ;)

You all know how much I love to stroke my big hard ego, but I got the sweetest email from James Picerno, who organized my recent Rutgers appearance, I figured I'd let him do the work for me. Here's his email:

Hello Michael and Heather,

Thank you so much again for coming to Rutgers and sharing so much with us. I am so happy to report that the conference was a huge success, and I thank you, along with the Rutgers Queer Caucus, BiGLARU, and NOW, for being a part of it.

Everyone seemed to really respond well to your workshop. Many of the participants expressed their enthusiasm just following the conference, and I still get people praising your workshop randomly through the day. It feels really great knowing that they enjoyed it so much. I was looking through the evaluations we had our participants fill out in response to the conference and each of the workshops they attended, and I thought I’d share some of what they had to say with you:

“YAY PORN”
“It must be such a great feeling for [Michael] knowing that he gives everyone the thing that they want most – SEX!”
“I wonder what it feels like to know that everywhere you go, everyone just wants to do you”
“What a hot accent!”
“Listening to [Michael] speak, I realized that his story really embodies the “American Dream,” he really was able to make his own way according to American capitalist values and build a successful company. He and people like him should be praised for their hard work and enterprising spirit. It
is such a shame that in America we praise capitalist values, yet seem to shun people in the sex trades, the people who I have learned at this conference are some of the hardest working, most disciplined embodiments of the capitalist spirit.
“I need more sexy, porn star friends”
“I was amazed how friendly [Michael] is. I wasn’t expecting him to be so personable. When you talk to him, it’s almost like you’re the most important person in the room. It’s no wonder he’s so successful. ROCK ON!”
“I was afraid this workshop would be entirely gay-male centric, but I was wrong. It was fun and useful for all who attended, I think”

And here are some of my favorite comments we received about Heather:

“DAMN, she fine!!”
“[Heather] is bangin! She got a boyfriend?”
“[Heather] seems so put together and smart. Is she a queer woman? There are definitely some lesbians here at Rutgers (at least this one) who hope so.”
“If [Queer Caucus] ever has them back, please give Heather her own workshop. One hour is not enough time for two amazing and interesting people to share the space, and I would have loved to hear more of what heather had to say.”
So, that’s some of them. It’s so cool, Heather has a bit of a fan base here at Rutgers it seems.

And on behalf of the QC, BiGLARU, and the Rutgers Chapter of NOW, I would like to thank you both
again so very much. And I would also like to extend an open invitation for your return back to Rutgers. If u ever feel like coming back, just because, or have anything you need to promote, speak out on, etc., just let me know and I will set up a space to receive you.

Thank you again,

~James Picerno~
