Ok Friends, How About a REAL Boycott

I want to dedicate the blog to every idiot who thinks that the fight for gay rights is won and over.

Ford Motors decided to drop advertising from gay publications. To read more click here.
Also discussed in TowelRoad here.

The people from Ford are lying that there was a problem with the marketing budget. Do they think that everybody is stupid enough to believe that bullshit excuse? Come on, how much does a page of advertising cost in Advocate magazine- 5,000, 10,000, 15,000? Who cares? This kind of money, when we are talking about a company such as Ford, is nothing.

Of course from the story you can see that this decision was made right after a Ford boycott by Christian conservatives which started on May 1st, because Ford was advertising in the gay market (not a bad idea to get the gay dollar, right?). And these miserable Missouri assholes pressured Ford enough to give up. So let's try our turn at boycotting Ford now. Which I think could actually make a real impact on their backwards ways.

I happen to believe that gay people are more likely to spend their dollar on Jaguars than some family-values lunatics from the midwest. But as it stands today, Christian Rights won another battle against us. They ended the boycott and let everyone know that they won against us and in my opinion, against American civil rights.

When you're done not-buying Ford cars, perhaps you'll enjoy these pictures from Amanda Lepore's birthday last night.

Amanda actually has these parties every Tuesday, though this was special for her birthday. These events are so popular, but they are always very crowded. Aside from that drawback, if you don't like these parties, then you must not like this city.

The people at these parties are a great cross section of New York: gay, straight, with the craziest outfits, gay, straight and in between, beyond gender, with sick acts on stage, such as a big fat lady pouring champagne all over herself. Much of it can be so fabulously nasty, but you just can't take your eyes off it!

Both Ford and the Christian right (which is always wrong) are to blame for this; and I say that even though it would seem a shame for a homo to drive a Ford when he could instead be in a Bentley.

Nonetheless, the Christian right is more to blame than Ford. Ford did not feel threatened by the cost of advertising in the gay media, it felt threatened by potential loss of sales to Christian rednecks. There exist no small number of them, alas.

Commentators have long been saying that those Muslims who do not advocate violence need to speak up more forcefully against those who do. The same applies to Christians. Where are the more open-minded Christians when a blackmail founded in bigotry such as this one proves successful?

It gets to where the religion and its followers do not deserve respect. We aren't even going to mention that both the Immaculate Conception and the Virgin Birth, compared to Darwinian science, or even not compared to it, are so preposterous, so self-evidently at odds with reality, and so transparently concocted to assuage certain people's existential anxiety, that the word delusional barely does justice to the actual sociopathic nature of Christianity generally and the Christian right in particular.

All that negativity towards sexuality should be tossed into the garbage like a used Tampax. And the malicious, aggressive victimization of gay people should be outlawed, with strict penalties, consistently enforced against violators. Show me Jesus walking across the water and I'll show you a turd in a toilet bowl. Can you tell I am outraged and angry over having my civil rights trampled by these thugs?

REMEMBER:

Ford owns Range Rover, Jaguar and SAAB.
Turn those cars in!

WOW......Looks like a fabulous party! And the pis are awesome. And I have called for a boycott on Ford cars as well on my blog. They didn't fool me with their bullshit reason why to not advertise in our magazines....

I agree with Scott Rose demanding that truly righteous Christians oppose the boycot tactics of the Religious Right. But then he goes on to degrade and slur the Christian religion and its beliefs. We aren't going to get the more moderately-minded religious people on our side by telling them their beliefs are shit. If we want respect, we have to show it to others as well.

Thanks, Michael, for bringing this up.

In response to David, I'll say he seems truly Christian, wanting to turn the other cheek to a people following a philosophy which has been degrading and slurring homosexuals for centuries. Upon reflection, I have decided that turning the other cheek is just the thing to do, and to the Christian right I am now turning BOTH my other cheeks!

Michael, you're right. Not to like Amanda's parties, you must NOT like the city.

I had been fortunate to be part of Amanda's circles occasionally in New York. Great parties she threw -- she would literally make God blush at every antic she did.

She rulz.

Scott, you hit it right on the head. Where are those opened minded Christians? What happen to those who say they believe in equality, fairness, love and acceptance?

Where are they now when a group is being boycotted, threaten and harrashed? It is so easy to say you are a Christian but actions speak louder than words. When will these "open minded Christians" say enough is enough?

Trying to meet in the middle doesn't work and hasn't worked. This is because most Christians are follower and do not have open minds. Didn't we see this in World War II. Where were the Christians then?

There is no difference 60 years later. People are what they are-----followers. I have said many times that religion is for the weak. Those who feel the NEED to believe that there is something ahead for you after you die. This is just wanting to feel validated. That your life had some meaning.

Religious people don't want to believe in reason or proof or logic because it would take away what they believe is their truth. Do we really believe there is a doggy heaven and gold fish heaven too? This is not about faith. This is about letting yourself believe in being ignorate. Quit kissing the Christian Rights ass rather have them kiss our ass. When is enough enough?
