Have you ever seen the Scorcese film Taxi Driver? This was before Giuliani supposedly cleaned up NY, and in the movie Deniro laments the condition of his cab after a nights drving. "I had to wipe up the vomit and cum from the backseat." You maybe be well groomed and pleasant smelling gay man, but the rest of the world is populated by "old French whores" that don't smell as good. while you're cute what you said was not. I'm somebody that considers you to be smart respectable person in some ways a role model and i was dissapointed by what you said. The bluntness of what you said is not the issue. it is true that a lot of new york cabs do stink and i and quite a few new yorkers have had that displeasurable experience. However using a legitamite gripe as a doorway to go into a racist diatribe is not. being Blunt and being ignorant are two different qualities and your career from being a former lawyer to being a successful entrepeneur does not show a man who would be that ignorant.

This is a blog and i do imagine that a lot of what you write is off the top of your head and therefore no censor button, and you shouldn't censor yourself but that does not mean you shouldn't use judgement. As someone who is both jewish and gay you should have some empathy to wards other people who are minorities.

If i was a gay arab and i read what you wrote i do imagine i would feel that dark feeling in my stomach and the heavy weight on my neck that comes with knowing that while the rest of the world hates you for being gay. gay folks hate you too for not being white and will use the words al quaeda or sand jockey as easily as straight bigots use the word faggot is the type of thing that makes your heart black and ruins your day and you would be responsible.

I have to agree with you on the cabbie issue. I live in Hawaii, so the cab drivers here are all asian or phillipino. And the whole cab stinks of soy sauce. And the way they drive is like a death ride. I sometimes want to say, "ease off the gas peddle, Hop-Sing!!" But you can't say something like that without sounding racist. But it's how I feel. By the way, the blog rocks!!!!
